CGI Sliding & Patio Doors: The Tampa Owner’s Guide

We stock and install replacement parts for CGI sliding and patio doors throughout Tampa, with most common repairs running $190 to $540 including labor and a fixed, line-item quote before any work starts. Our trucks carry the rollers, track assemblies, handles, locks, and weatherstripping that fail most often on CGI doors in Florida’s heat and salt air, so many fixes happen on the first visit. Most Tampa homeowners call us after their door starts grinding across the track, lets daylight through a sagging corner, or refuses to lock at night – and by then the small wear items have usually been grinding for months.

Which CGI Models This Applies To

CGI manufactures sliding and patio doors across several impact-rated series, including the Estate Collection, Tribute, and Sentinel lines, and the part your door needs depends on which series and panel width you have. The quickest way to identify it: open the door and look at the corner of the door panel itself. CGI stamps a small label on the interior frame edge with the series name, manufacturing date, and a production code. Take a photo of that label before you call anyone. It tells us the exact roller housing spec, interlock type, and whether your door uses CGI’s stainless or polymer wheel set.

Here’s the compatibility gotcha most Tampa owners don’t know: CGI changed their roller housing dimensions between certain production years, and a 2012 Estate Collection roller will not seat correctly in a 2019 frame. The track looks identical from the top, but the roller’s axle width differs by about 3/16 of an inch. We keep both versions on the truck because we have been burned by this exact mismatch before. When it comes to OEM versus aftermarket, we install CGI factory parts on doors still under structural warranty, and for out-of-warranty doors we offer a high-grade aftermarket roller with sealed stainless bearings that often outlasts the original in coastal neighborhoods like Davis Islands and Beach Park. Either way, you will know exactly which part we’re using and why before we install it.

We’re an independent service provider, not a CGI factory outlet. That means we stock parts for your CGI door, but we’re free to tell you honestly when a less expensive part will perform just as well – and we’re also a PGT, CWS, and ES Windows parts stockist, so if you have more than one impact door in the house, we can often service all of them in a single trip.

Signs Your CGI Sliding & Patio Doors Is Failing

  • The door scrapes or shudders when you open it. This is almost always a worn roller bearing. CGI rollers use a sealed bearing that eventually loses its lubricant in Florida humidity, and once the bearing dries out, the wheel flat-spots and drags metal on the aluminum track. You will hear it before you see it.
  • The door lifts up at the handle when you pull it closed. That upward play means the roller housing has worn or the adjusting screw has backed out. A door that rides loose on the rollers chews through weatherstripping and puts diagonal stress on the interlock, which accelerates wear on the locking mechanism.
  • The lock catches but doesn’t fully engage the keeper. CGI interlocks use a hook-style latch on most series. When the door panel settles even an eighth of an inch out of alignment, the hook hits the keeper plate edge instead of seating inside it. The door looks locked, but a firm shoulder shove can dislodge it. In a place where hurricane code matters, that’s not a risk worth carrying.
  • Water puddles on the interior sill after a hard Tampa downpour. The CGI door’s lower weatherstrip and sill dam rely on proper panel alignment. When rollers wear unevenly, the panel tilts and opens a gap at the lower corner where the interlock meets the sill. What starts as a damp carpet edge becomes a mold and flooring problem if ignored through one summer storm season.
  • The door feels heavier every month. That is not your imagination. As CGI rollers lose their rolling efficiency, you are physically lifting the panel over the track instead of rolling it. Track wear follows quickly once the stainless cap is scored, and then you’re looking at a track replacement as well as new rollers.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Here’s what CGI sliding door repairs typically run in Tampa, parts and labor included:

  • Roller replacement (pair): $190 to $280 depending on series and whether we use OEM or sealed-bearing aftermarket wheels.
  • Track cleaning, realignment, and roller adjustment: $110 to $160 when paired with an on-site visit for another repair.
  • Handle and lock mechanism replacement: $160 to $340 depending on whether your CGI door uses the standard thumb-latch or the keyed interlock lock.
  • Weatherstrip and sill dam replacement: $90 to $210 depending on door width and how much of the lower frame track needs resealing.
  • Full door panel replacement (impact-rated CGI): $2,800 to $5,400 installed, depending on series, size, and custom finish. This is the upper end, and we will always tell you if a component repair gets you another five to ten years instead.

Every quote is a written, line-item price. You’ll see the part cost, the labor, and any disposal fee separately. There are no change orders on the back end unless you ask us to add work. We also run the permanent $40 off any repair over $200, and that discount lives in our system forever, not as a seasonal promotion. Our workmanship warranty on door repairs is backed by the 36500-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not done right, Ed makes it right. Period.

DIY or Call Us?

We will never talk an owner out of maintaining their own doors. There are things you can safely do: vacuum the track, wipe the stainless cap with a dry cloth, and check the label for your serial number before calling us. That helps. But once you start unweighting the door panel, you are handling a 150- to 300-pound sheet of laminated impact glass. The panel has to come out of the frame to reach the rollers on most CGI models, and without a lifting panel cradle and the right track shims, you can crack the interlock or drop the glass on the concrete. A cracked interlock on an impact-rated CGI door voids its wind rating, and you won’t know that until the next inspectable storm event. Trust us on this one: if the door weighs more than you want to deadlift while lying on your back, call (386) 559-6999 and let our crew handle it. We’re in your neighborhood every week, and we answer the phone when you call.

What Neighbors Say About Winslow Windows & Doors

★★★★

"Excellent work and a fair price for what it is, though impact glass is never cheap and one bedroom window arrived with a scratched pane. Ed flagged it before I saw it and the replacement went in without me chasing anyone."

BBartholomew Crenshaw
★★★★★

"He replaced the front door and the garage door in the same week, both rated for impact, and lined the frames up so straight my level had nothing to say. My wife stopped hearing the highway from the front room."

MMaximilian Vasquez
★★★★★

"A tile roof repair and new windows from the same company meant one crew, one permit runner, and nobody blaming the other trade. Ed checked the roof work himself before the tarp came off."

HHenrietta Pemberton
★★★★★

"Three big companies quoted us and every one sent a salesman with a leased truck. Ed turned up in a truck with his own name on the door, quoted less, and his crew were the same faces on day one and day nine."
